Exterior Grease Traps

Grease traps are necessary fixtures or reservoirs for any restaurant or food service establishment. They are often required by law as a safety and health ordinance. More importantly, grease traps are required to be cleaned according to local or state ordinances. The reason for the required cleaning and maintenance is because it poses a serious health risk if ignored.

The reason for this being that grease traps hold the foods, oil and greases (FOGs) from daily operations. Now, as grease cools it will solidify above the water in the grease trap because it is lighter. Once the grease has solidified, there is often a place for water to exit, leaving just the solidified sludge.

This sludge and grease builds over time. But, as it builds over time it leads to more opportunities for backups. Further, these backups or blockages can affect plumbing in restaurants and sewer systems if not addressed. Grease traps are vital for an efficient, safe operation and they should be cared for as such.

It is important to regularly schedule cleanings and inspections depending on the size of your trap and usage.

How Often For Cleanings?

As mentioned above, the frequency will depend on a few factors: size of your trap, how much its used, size of restaurant, pumping or cleaning, last cleaning and more.

The best way to determine this is to set up a consultation with our specialists. Essentially, our technicians come to your location and do a full inspection. Then, if you like, we can provide a cleaning as well. However, the inspection is mostly to figure out when your last cleaning was, how effective it was, and how to proceed.

Once they make a determination, they consult with you. The goal is to create a partnership instead of business transaction. We want to make out findings clear to you, and then we want to set you up with a helpful maintenance schedule. The schedule for you will give you an indication of how often you should be getting a cleaning.

They can also provide other services besides strict cleanings, as detailed below:

  • Interior Grease Trap Pumping
  • Exterior Grease Interceptor Pumping
  • Drain Line Cabling/Snaking
  • Grease Trap Installations
  • Routine Preventative Maintenance Plans
